one of my coworkers was at the jazz festival over the weekend.

he was on his way home when 3 native guys jumped him, beat him senseless and stole his bike.

he spent the rest of saturday night and part of sunday in HSC recovering.

his nose was broken, both eyes bloodied, bruises and injuries over the rest of his head and face.

The REALLY sad part, is his bicycle wasn't worth anything. He had a 2x6 across the back tire as a make-shift platform/fender.

And...it was his ONLY means of transportation around the city and for work.

So...I'm asking if anyone out there might have an extra bike they don't want? Something I can give him so he can get to/from work once he recovers fully?

He's about 6' tall.
The bike he had was a 10-speed w/ 26" wheels.

If anyone might be able to help, please let me know.

Thanks,
AA

That is sad news, I was also at the jazz festival and tend to feel uneasy around this area. Unfortunately cannot help out.

awesome...maybe we can hook up this week and I'll pick it up and clean it.

he starts back to work on Monday...so I might have him come into the office first and give it to him.

luckily...the only physical damage he got was too his head and shoulders...so he's able to get back to work right away.

About the only day I could drop it off would be Thursday or Saturday.. not even sure about Saturday.. but I will be home wed, thurs, friday night and my wife is home during the day if you wanted to stop by and pick it up

I'll get a closer look at it when I get home so I will better be able to tell what is wrong...apparently the back wheel my need to be straightened. But I think this is pretty easy to do and the CC near you might even have the tools to do so.

If it's just a tire and/or tuneup...I can handle that...
Fixing bikes is pretty easy.

It's parts and pieces that I can't afford that are the issue...but if all the parts are there...I can tune it up.

back breaks missing one nut... front brakes work real good. Rim looks like it just needs the spokes adjusted to straighten it. White wall tires Smile

seat is okayish... needs a new cover, but otherwise fine.

7 speed cruiser bike.

do you have my house information?

Super crappy to hear about your friend. I had something similar happen to me around 6 years ago (got jumped by 4 punks). I wouldn't be so sure about him being ok so quickly. Depending on the extent of his head injuries it could be months or longer before he's 100%. I took a pretty good knock to the head that gave me headaches/nausea and vertigo for around 4-6 months. Coupled with trouble sleeping it was no fun at all. I still experience some problems with memory loss if I am being overwhelmed with information. Head injuries are by far the worst to recover from. I hope your friend recovers quickly.

I figured everyone on this forum is mature enough not to make fun of people getting head injuries, but whatever. If someone feels that's some ammunition they can go ahead and try and use it....I got knocked in the head, what's their excuse? Helping a friend Lol

On a serious note, I was genuinely concerned for Ages friend and sincerely hope he make a speedy recovery. I know first hand that the bruises and scrapes healed a lot quicker than my melon. Lucky for me my head is so thick it didn't leave any serious permanent damage. (Ooops there I go giving away more ammo I guess.)
