I use Zone Alarm for my virus catcher.
I just ran a full scan on my little disk which took a whole hour.
ZA reported it scanned 61,000 files. (No virus found.)
I don't download music or games.
But I do use Firefox, Thunderbird, and MS Office.
I deleted all the *. tmp and *.log files before the scan started.

Can anyone tell me what other junk I have been missing to delete?

Thanks in advance for any hints.

In XP Start Menu select run and type "cleanmgr". That should help find some more stuff that can be eliminated. There are also cleaner programs that can find even more redundant files.

MS Service packs eat up most of your space.

also (if you haven't already), search your "program files" folder.

Even when you uninstall programs, there are typically files & folders left behind in there.

Go through and delete any folder for a program you know you've uninstalled.

There's also a folder called "Online Services" in there somewhere...if you haven't deleted that already...do so. It's useless garbage put in because of lawsuits against MS for monopoly strategies. (it's about 5Mb).
