what was that... 3 years ago? 4? that transit said it was going to be putting cameras in buses? they even went to the effort of slapping stickers all over the place.
Now I see these last couple of weeks more and more buses with cameras. Mostly its the 200 and 400 series buses. Looks like that have a computer installed on the buses as well. I am assuming this is for recording and other stuff?
Well its about damn time they put the cameras in me thinks.
I was talking with one driver and apparently "management" is now telling the "union" that the cameras recordings will be used to monitor, evaluate, check up on the drives.
I mean sure.. not doing anything wrong and all.. whats to worry? Right?
Well just like the cameras on cops idea I propose, I dont think that anyone should ever get to look at the footage unless thier is a legitimate complaint or its for something like seating analysis for new bus design or something. Random spot checks on the drivers 9or the cops) should be completely disallowed.

I'm surprised they installed a PC to manage the cameras. I'd have thunk a 500gb DVR would be more than enough.

maybe it is.. I dont really know.. sure looks like a PC sealed up in the box.
but really all a DVR is, is a specialized PC.
