The closest shave you'll ever get? I don't think so. Perhaps years ago when they didn't have the blade technology that is present today.
I have a Gilette something-or-other, and with a new blade installed, I actually have to be very careful so as not to cut my face up.
But...the hot towels and cream....it's just not the same at home....even with The Muse dressed as a barber.

Have any of you guys considered switching to a double-edged safety razor with a badger brush and solid shaving cream for daily shaving?

Actually, I use a brush and shaving soap, can't stand those foams and gels and stuff. But, contrary to what my kids say, I have progressed beyond the safety razor, but Trac II blades are getting harder to find.

I've been know to shave in the shower with just the water to soften the wiskers...no problemo.

Shaving at the gym is great, as a short spot in the steam room always helps. I also like the showers as the water is hot, which, with 3 19 yr olds at home, is a rare thing.

I use an electric razor. It works fine. I also shave with foam and a 28 blade razor as well on occasion.

Something like that and counting...It's ridiculous...They keep adding blades and the result is always the same...The more blades used the faster they plug up and the faster you have to replace them so in one sense they truly do have it all figured out already...GGF

So do I. Call me old-fashioned, but I rather prefer this method... I also use a pair of scissors to "shape" my beard.
