I'm no Kelly fan but I'm not sure firing him is the way to go. Starting from scratch all over again doesn't sound like much fun. The Bombers showed a ton of improvement during the last part of the season. I think we might as well give him one more season to see if he can continue to build on his late season success. And not having to pay another fired coach's contract out might be good for the team.

maybe they need someone at head office that knows how to write a decent contract that is more in favour of the team then the coach

Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly was arrested this
morning and charged with assault and harrassment following a domestic
dispute.

Police in Bridgeport, Penn., responded to Kelly’s home in the Philadelphia area at 11:03 a.m.



The other person involved in the incident is Andrea Peterson, Kelly’s former girlfriend.

Police said she had a cut on her lip, redness on her neck and a
small cut on her finger. Police said Kelly also had some bruising on
his face.

Kelly was released on his own recognizance.

Kelly was reached by the Free Press on his cell phone but did not
offer comment simply saying, "I can’t talk right now," before hanging
up.

Blue Bombers chairman Ken Hildahl learned of the incident minutes
after he ended a press conference announcing the resignation of CEO
Lyle Bauer.

"At this point, what we’ll be looking to do is get all the facts
surrounding the incident in Philadelphia," said Hildahl. "We’’ll deal
with it at that point. We’ve heard a lot of rumours, a lot of innuendo
over the last hour. These are issues that this football club and this
board are obviously very concerned with. Any incidents that involve
violence, and at this point they are allegations, it’s something we
will and do take seriously."

well I guess thats that then. He wont be able to cross the border with those charges hanging over his head.. and it will take quite some time before the case works its way through the courts. I guess we dont have to pay his salary then.

Agreed. Can't deny his BUSINESS acumen. One can challenge his football acumen as the Bombers have won nothing under his tutelage.

Bauer also ran a once proud franchise into the ground. He has no Grey Cups to boast about, and his tenure will go down as one of the "dark periods" of Winnipeg Blue Bomber history.
Not to mention he fired a coach who could have been capable of turning things around, only to replace him by a woman-beating idiot.

He did not run the Bombers into the ground... He was not successful as far as Grey Cups goes,but he was financially successful.

reading the report it looks like they both got hit more then a little bit.

Will Canada Immigration deny someone CHARGED with a crime or does there actually have to be a conviction?

Charged is sufficient.

(otherwise they might be running from the law and attempting to hide in Canada)
Can a waiver be had? no doubt. But only time will tell how this plays out.
