Oops...sorry GOM...I didn't mean to pull these posts...I thought it would just split off cause I wanted to start a new topic.

I'd like to ask everyone what their favourite Christmas/Holiday songs are?

I'm trying to compile a list of some of the favourites.

If you can list Title & Artist it would be appreciated.

The Pogues - Fairytale of New York......

BTW - GOM, you have now officially admitted that you are sentimental.

Pogues — Fairytale Of New York lyrics
It was christmas eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me: won't see another one
And then they sang a song
The rare old mountain dew
I turned my face away and dreamed about you
Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I´ve got a feeling
This year´s for me and you
So happy christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
Where all our dreams come true.
They got cars big as bars
They got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It´s no place for the old
When you first took my hand on a cold christmas eve
You promised me broadway was waiting for me
You were handsome you were pretty
Queen of new york city when the band finished playing they yelled out for more
Sinatra was swinging all the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night.
And the boys from the NYPD choir were singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out for christmas day.
You´re a bum you´re a punk
You´re an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy christmas your arse I pray god it´s our last.
And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells were ringing out
For christmas day.
I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can´t make it out alone
I´ve built my dreams around you
And the boys of the NYPD choir's still singing Galway Bay
And the bells are ringing out
For christmas day.

Not the Madonna version......one definitely done in the fifties. And in the early sixties there was a whole slew of them done by the reigning girl groups of the day featuring Phil Spector's Wall of Sound engineering.

I know that QX 104 is doing the 1 big day for Christmas at the Safeway at Madison Square today from 6am - 6pm (as is 103) and they are playing Christmas songs for the whole day so if you are into listening to Christams songs this is a perfect chance to.

Just slightly off topic:

I was walking across Graham Av near the Library yesterday, and this crazy religious lady was handing out pamphlets, and yelling that christmas should be boycotted, since 'it had nothing to do with Jesus'. I wished her a "Merry Christmas!" She wasn't too happy with me, to say the least;)

Christmas had nothing to do with Jesus?

That's almost funny Smile).

I'm always amazed at how many people take things so seriously.

Maybe I'll get my suit on tomorrow and see if she's still out there...then go stand next to her and ring my bell Smile.

Christmas really doesn't have anything to do with Jesus or religion. It has everything to do with shopping, eating a ton and debt. How many people really celebrate the true meaning of Christmas?
