If these pillows are needed, should they be supplied by DND or through public donations?

Lets keep this one on track. A pillow is one of those "creature" comforts, that makes a soldier just a little more comfortable. Its like a cold drink on a hot day or a dry cigarette in the rain.It is not "needed", so it is not issued. Roll roll your jacket up if you need it. I used to carry an inflatable pillow (it was a pillow not a doll).

The fact that this drive has started in memory of a young man who left us far too early should be taken as that. This is something that "we" should do for our soldiers, not the government, but from us, as individuals.

So tomorrow, why not stop at J & S or CJOB or wherever, and put up the $5. You'll be making someone son or daughter just a little more comfortable, and maybe bringing them a little closer to home.

$5 to tell someone we are thinking about them ,out in that God forsaken Country, is meaningful!
Why are our troops out there? Because we belong to NATO!
I personally think that it would be more meaningful , if Canadians got together and spent $1299 for a 3 seat sofa with 6 reversible, detached seats and backs. That would give 13 army personel relief!

wait a minute

we supply all the forest fire fighters with pillows ( a new one each deployment to each new fire that they will be camping near)

but we dont supply our troops pillows?? pillows that they would only want one of in the course of 6 months?

WTF?

Pillows for Troops...absolute fcuken nonsense.

Let's all knit them little booties to match!!

I reckon this is about guilty consciences and not about supplying troops with equipment...but that's just me and my suspiciousness.

What about $1299 and send a 3 seat cushion sofa and 3 back cushion sofa to our troops? That is 6 cushions and 1 guy could sleep on the sofa, or a guy and a gal or even 2 guys! That is up to 14 people with lots of comfort? These are large cushions and 2 people per cushion and possibly 4 per cushion would equal 26 per sofa?
freight is not included
