A government which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always count on the support of Paul. – George Bernard Shaw

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. – Benjamin Franklin

If you are not free to choose wrongly and irresponsibly, you are not free at all. – Jacob Hornberger (1995)

There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does
not want merely because you think it would be good for him. – Robert Heinlein

Where morality is present, laws are unnecessary. Without morality, laws are unenforceable. – Anonymous

When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators. – P.J. O'Rourke

Taxation of earnings from labor is on a par with forced labor. Seizing
the results of someone's labor is equivalent to seizing hours from him
and directing him to carry on various activities. – Robert Nozick, Harvard philosopher

This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized
nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police
more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future! – Adolph Hitler [1935] The Weapons Act of Nazi Germany.

The Quote above hits home with me the most. Alan Rock and his Gun Registry of Canada !! reminds that if we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. Hopefully we dont go down that path. Harper, please repeal the gun registry.

Harper CANT repeal the gun registry. He simply does not have the votes for it. All he can do is waive registration and continue the amnesty as that does not require a vote.

Yeah, it's long been attributed to him...but I did some research.

Turns out, it was printed in his newspaper once...the actual person who said it is unknown (speculation is it's one of 3 guys)...but because Franklin printed it...it got attributed to him over time.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the
back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks
you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just
stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol'
Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues,
Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
