I'm not a baseball fan to begin with but I usually watch some of the World Series. Not this year. Not even a minute.

Does anybody in Canada really care for baseball? Is the apathy, if any, comparable to US apathy to hockey?

I don't care about it. The only time I saw Canada care was when Toronto won the world series.

I was going to watch it...actually had some time to kill and figured "I'm from the Philly area...I should watch at least one game"...turns out it was the one that was rained out...so watched the Eskimos spank Saskatchewan instead Very Happy.

The apathy for baseball is rampant in the US too though. MOST people don't even care about it anymore. About the only time people get excited about it, is when THEIR team is in a major game, or when records are being broken. The same thing that is ruining hockey, is ruining baseball, football etc.

Expanding the leagues so much that you don't really have "professional" players on the teams has caused the games to be no fun. Add to that the costs of tickets, concessions, and you have basically alienated the general public...those who are the bread & butter of these sports. Teams should be developing "all-stars" and "showmanship", instead of just filling their roster. Most of these athletes have the potential to be great...it's a matter of getting the public behind them that will benefit everyone.

I don't follow baseball at all. I think the sport has lost a lot of lustre with all the steroid controversies.

baseball is fun to watch with your kids at the ballpark. Other then that... its about as entertaining as watching golf.
