picked up a fine and a course ring of the good addiction that Mr P introduced me to (thanks again MR P!!!)

but they also had one chunk left of thief honey garlic pepperoni stick....

yeah that was all kinds of WOWEEWOWOW!

no super greasy after taste that you get with most honey garlic pepperoni sticks.. and the insides were still distinguishable as meat!

Sorry but for traditional old country passed down recipes I will always shop at European Meats on Burrows. And I know exactly what is in their products.

Karpaty is on McGregor and Bannerman (across from Alicia's).
There is also Striker's on Burrow's and Sinclair. Another one that my hubby goes to for some German specialty things is Portage Meats on Portage & Sherburn. They have their own smoke house as well but we haven't tried their sausage yet.
And depending on if you want to travel, Clandeboye Meats is comparable to European Meats for some things (I believe the owner's are related by marriage).

yeah it was definately karpatys then.

Is strikers ever actually open? Or does it always look like a locked up jail house from the outside?

I've never actually shopped at Striker's but I have seen people going in and out so they do some business. I have also seen smoke coming from the smoke house chimney so they are producing their own.
Oh and one other tidbit, if you have been to Alicia's in the past few weeks (say 3-6 weeks) and had the Kulbassa, you are eating a European Meats product. He just won Alicia's business back after a hiatus of a couple of years of them trying another supplier.

You guys are forgetting another North End institution....Old Country Meats on Dufferin......I can't vouch for their sausage but any self respecting hotdog vendorwill be cooking their smokies and wieners, the best in town by far.

A little off topic but the Carvers Knife has excellent meat. The steaks are amazing.

Zagreb's owners sold the business when they retired. A promotional company is now in that building.

(The building is at the top of my street.)

I don't usually buy the smokies, we buy the Italian sausage and cook those on the BBQ or split them from their casing and make pasta with the meat instead of using ground beef. Because I have an allergy to beef I have to be careful what meat products I eat so that is why I tend to stay away from most smoked meat unless I know what is in them. Most butchers won't tell you what ingredients they use so I won't buy.

As for Old Country Sausage, unless things have changed in the past year, you have to have a business license (ie a vendor or restaurant) to buy from them, they don't have a "store front" retail section for walk in's. And again, they do not disclose ingredients lists for people with allergies. And because of that I am not a customer of theirs.

Holly, I have no business license at all and I can go right into Old Country, order what I want and they bring it out to me, done that many times. There is no proper storefront, you are correct about that........just walk right in!

yeah I dont really like most of their stuff. and yeah you can walk right in.. alot cheaper direct from them for sure.
