Larry Updike, a grumpy old man by anyone's measure, is leaving CJOB for Silom Mission.
Hopefully, they can replace the 33-year broadcasting vet with someone equally good.

I always thought he was a very good host. I can't believe this new job is FT. It sounds PT, so I wonder why he doesn't just do both.

He's not a young man anymore....maybe he just wants to do something else and have more free time.

Maybe he was just getting tired of sucking up to Evil Doer all the time.

Updike is a Pastor and he will be taking up a gig at a church soon, as well as the Mission. He was great with Tom McGoran at 92fm back in the 80's. Very smart and funny guy, but he wasn't at CJOB. His calling is the church and it became obvious a few years ago that he wasn't happy doing radio anymore. He was a pastor 30 years ago.

I love Larry's show in the mornings on CJOB.....he is the best morning man in the city. I recall a long time ago he took a job with a radio station in Vancouver along with I think Tom McGouran, it was the "Tom & Jerry" morning show. It fizzled pretty quickly and we got both our guys back! I wish you the best Larry!
