This is Winnipeg, if I am buying 2 goats instead of just one I expect a discount!
Why would a sheep cost more then a goat?
anyhoo. thanks for the list Rosie...I may indeed purchase something this year.

I gave the Muse a tree last year.

I DON'T reccommend doing so.

Are sheep larger than goats? Or maybe the extra $50 reflects the wool you can get from the sheep.

Actually, it's been a hope of mine to start an Alpaca ranch.

If run correctly, there's lots of money in it...and GREAT exercise and educational aspects as well.

Seems to me that they can run 10 to 12 thousand...can't remember where I heard that or if it's true.

EDIT:
Nope. I'm wrong....I just googled it ....from as low as $500...

Actually, the $500 aren't worth anything except for a bit of fibre (pays for the feed) and companionship for the breeding animals.

Typically the $500-3k ones are gelded males.

$10k+ are the breeders, and that's where the money is...breeding & showing.

An alpaca (about 6 years ago) for breeding was imported to a show in Pennsylvania from Canada. It sold at auction for $800k.
