yeah and of course it wont work though.. bets on protests and road closures to stop it from being implemented?

Shawn Atleo, the assembly's vice-chief for British Columbia is widely considered the front-runner. The other candidates include John Beaucage, grand chief of the 42-member Union of Ontario Indians, and Perry Bellegarde, former assembly vice-chief for Saskatchewan.
Roseau River First Nation Chief Terrance Nelson, best known for briefly threatening to shut down rail lines in Manitoba during a 2007 national native Day of Action, has also said he'll run.

Would someone be allowed to run if they were sitting as President/Prime Minister/etc. of another country? say the President of Pakistan wanted to run?
SUPPOSEDLY Nelson is head of a "Nation"...so it would seem a conflict if he were to run to be head of another one.

If this fricker runs and gets elected, I can only imagine the stupidity and chaos that will result from his doings. This would be 1 million steps in the wrong direction if he gets elected.

Because that is not the way it works in aboriginal politics. He has to give it up if he wins, but not if he loses.

On the bright side, if Nelson was elected he'd be a pain-in-the-ass-for everybody, not just us, so the pain would be diluted somewhat eh.
