for some bizarre reason the Manitoba chiefs are protesting a temporary ban on fishing for walleye on the turtle river

A temporary ban that has been put in place to ensure the survival of the species. A temporary ban that last 14 days.

Let them fish for Walleye. Those fish are the best tasting thing to come out of Manitoba!

So I guess this means they'll be netting during the spawn again @ the lake this year....

They do that every other year it seems.

And they are allowed to get away with it. Too bad they don't just keep the fish they want, and toss the rest back. Instead, they toss anything not Walleye onto the shore.

so much for respecting the land.....what a crock of shite.....I remember not too fondly some years ago a native person telling me it was his right to hunt anytime of the year....he did not need to hunt for food....he was a bonus miner.....he and his cohort killed a pregnant moose cow......they did it because they could do it....

What will happen of course is they will aid in the killing of the species and then blame others. After the blame will be the extended hand asking for more money because they can no longer fish.
