My wife brings in from regina a French roast from a particular roaster. I have a coffee that is roasted by a company 20 miles out of town!
how particular are you with your coffee?
A friend of mine prefers instant coffee! yuk!
Do you care, or do you drink any coffee?

Best coffee I ever had was from Jamaica...Blue Mountain.
I bought it there for about $8US/pound (this was 9 years ago)...but to buy it in the US costs more than $40/pound.
It's a very rich, dark coffee.

For a more affordable version...I had a coffee "subscription", where every month I'd get another pound. It's not available (yet) in Canada...it's called Gevalia.

Very tasty, and you can go online each month and change the "flavour" you are getting for the next.

At the time, my wife (1st wife) and I both drank quite a bit of coffee. My current wife doesn't drink it, so I don't make as much...and it's free at work anyway.

If you ever hear of Gevalia coming across the border though...I highly recommend them.

Believe me or not but McDonalds brews a mean cup of coffee, I love the coffee from 7-11 too. I was at Johnny's Restaurant on Marion last weekend, I watched the old man make coffee, he added a bit more then a pinch of salt to the grounds before he got it going, that makes for a fine cup of joe too.

So Johnnies adds SALT to their coffee- Thanks for letting me know that. They are off my list. Adding salt is incredible! maybe they can add some MSG to get the taste just right!
Man, I would never even think about asking a restaurant if they add salt to their coffee!

We buy Pike's Place roast from Starbuck's or Kicking Horse Grizzly blend which we get at Sobeys. Both are fair trade beans and we have a grinder/coffee machine so it is always fresh ground coffee.

That's cause they are changing their brand...and want to entice people to try it.

I always find it amusing at the McD's at Portage & Sherbrook on weekday mornings.

You can typically go through the drivethru in a matter of a couple minutes...but the drive thru at the Tim Horton's, directly behind it...has cars backed out all the way to Portage Avenue at times.

Tims is just NOT THAT good.

Coffee Snobs!!! lol!

Starbucks? I have no idea how anyone can drink that over-priced garbage. It's bitter/sour and you have to drown it with sugar & cream just to make it palatable.

I haven't tried Sobey's stuff yet...so can't comment on that.

It's all the same to me (and temporarily verboten), whatever happens to be in the pot at work is fine by me.

Driving up from Kingston, Jamaica, headed up to Irish Town.....bought ten pounds of fresh roasted Blue \Mountain beans....wow. My luggage smelled heavenly.

Guatemala, same thing, driving through the highlands. In Belize I get fresh roasted beans from Gallon Jug Estates. In |Mexico, by and far the best damned coffee anywhere is found in the old part of Oaxaca City...coffee bars to die for ensconced in 400 year old buildings.....oh it is heaven in a cup.

But since I am back here? I had a friend go to Trader Joe's in Minneapolis and bring me back a can of their Moka Java beans....that is what I am drinking right now....when those run out I grind up espresso beans from Italy....I like my coffee to have a kick.

On hot days I make a pot, let it cool off and serve it on the rocks chased with some sweetened condensed milk like the Vietnamese folks do with their coffee....otherwise I do not bother with sugar but the way the Viets do it? Dessert in a glass....

Espresso shots in eastern Europe - Turkish rocket fuel - great weight loss program if one does not chase their shots with liberal amounts of tobacco.....hahahahah....

Coffee bars here? The Fyxx or Second Cup.....

Has anyone tried the Cat Poop Coffee?

Strange thing the Tims hold on the Canadian Pyshche , people line up like lemmings every morning . Yet no Canadian came forward to buy it awhile back .

I had some friends bring me a canister of Tim's for the Belize house....gotta admit \i did enjoy it and so did my Belizean friends....it has this comforting taste but would |I want to drink it all the time? No. ONce in awhile I will have a cuppa with triple creme.....no pastries.

I agree with you about Second Cup......I LOVE their Holiday Blend, but you can only get it around Christmas time Sad
And whatever happened to Robins Donuts? They used to be on every street corner, like Timmy's is now......Their coffee is far superior to Timmy's brew.

I have a friend that works at Starbucks so that is why we drink it, we get a family price otherwise it would only be on special occasions. I have also had the Second Cup Christmas blend and it is very good. Another place that makes a good cup is Timothy's in Polo Park, their breakfast blend is nice. I haven't had the pleasure yet to go to the Fyxx so can't comment. We also just got a bag of beans from a local place in Headingly called Sunstone Coffee so we shall see, if they measure up maybe I will buy local. Hubby says he has seen it at Safeway. And one more place that is also good and local is Montain Bean on Henderson Hwy, close to the perimeter. Similar design as a Starbucks, cozy place with the comfy chairs and wi-fi

Bragging about paying $6.00 for a cup of coffee eh?

Some people pay over $6.00 for a cup of coffee, others pay well over that for an alcoholic drink, to each their own I say. If the drink is worth the price, go for it.
