Hamburgers don't have to be un-healthy do they? The salt flavour is easily replaced with other spices and the meat can be lean eh. Add in the tomato and lettuce and you got Subway beat by a mile imo.

I like George's on ness or the Kiln out in Stonewall. Those are my two favorite burger joints.

It's about portion size too. Red meat is still red meat, even if it's lean and unsalted. If you eat too much of eat, then you're asking for trouble!

Anyway, I don't see many "healthy" hamburger joints - mostly greasy but delicious drive-thrus.

I really like the burger at Johnny G's. I think George's and VJ's burgers are alright.

I don't like Blondie's dry burgers and I really dislike the burger at Super Boys.

My favourite burger is my mom's, but that's probably because I've grown up with it and have become accustomed to the taste. This, however, is not a teaser because we do sell our burgers in our restaurants!

For your information, hamburgers made at home with lots of pepper, and no salts added have 1/2 the sodium of store bought hamburgers, who apparently use MSG and soium to get their favorite taste.
JTF is right ! I cheat a little bit by adding a little ketchup for moistness.

I like Superboys, VJ's, Red Top etc etc. Thunderbird makes a good burger as well.

Yup.

And unless you sauce-up a lean patty, a healthier burger will taste like crap imo.

The lure of a "good burger" is usually the fat content, which is where the flavour is I believe.

the bison burgers you can purchase at Costco are fairly lean and not too dry provided you dont over cook them.

I'm planning to try out the Royal Diner soon (in the Royal Albert). They've got a vegan "fatboy" that is asking for some attention! Also, there's regular beef burgers as well and sweet potato fries. Yum.

I would have to say that Daly Burger on Corydon Avenue in Little italy is the best burger joint, hands-down. Their burgers are fresh and juicy. Their fries are delicious and fresh. In fact, even the staff is cool.

Good ol' Angelo's!

My ol' man used to deliver pizza for Angelo's Pizza (Main and Semple, where Subway is now) back in the late 70's! I wondered if the same person owned both...

The best burger is definitely not in Winnipeg. You need to go to Portage La Prairie for that. On the west end of Saskatchewan Avenue is a little place called Jimmy's Subs, his sign inside warns ya"All burgers made with chili", and man can you taste it! I can't vouch for his subs but the burgers rule at Jimmy's.
