Kettle Magazine needs submissions!

Kettle Magazine is a new Winnipeg-based literary and visual arts
magazine and is planning on launching its first issue this spring. We
need submissions of the following types:

- Fiction
- Editorials/Essays
- Journalism
- Photography
- Graphic arts
- Columnists

...or
anything that can be printed. Please note that Kettle is a black and
white magazine, but colour submissions are more than welcome if you
don't mind seeing them in greyscale.

Does kettle magazine call the pot magazine black?

Seriously though... what is the meaning behind the name kettle? Is there a web site in the works?

Some specifics:

Written works should be around 2000 words maximum, but I would consider longer articles published in serial, provided they are exceptional in quality.

Political is fine, Kettle does not lean either way. However, it is an arts and literature (not news) magazine so content should have an artistic nature.

Winnipeg-specific is encouraged, but by no means law.

Paintings, comics, photographs, photographs of unprintable art (sculpture and the like), and everything in between are all acceptable. Please just make sure you submit a high-resolution, non-lossy format scan. Jpegs don't look very nice blown up to print size.
The name "Kettle" is for three reasons:
- It's a reference to the "melting pot" of Winnipeg
- It's another name for pothole (also Winnipeg-related)
- I like how the word looks (not so Winnipeg-related)

I've forwarded your info to a Winnipeg photographer that has some excellent B & W Winnipeg images. Our current banner is by this photographer.

As for stories I imagine our rosen could write some interesting pieces. I just might take your editor too much time to edit though...
