My son and daughter-in-law left Winnipeg Sep 15/08 from Wpg to head on their bikes to the East coast. They ran into foul weather and headed south in Ontario, rented a van to get to Minneapolis and flew down to Vegas, and continued their camping out and bicycling visiting Arizona, Nevada and then on to New Zealand, Australia and now they are in Singapore.
They have been staying with friends and acquaintances all along the way, but they skype us and once a day their transponder sends me a message telling me where they are.
The skype tecnology is mind boggling to me.
Tonight the phone rang and it was my son phoning fron Singapore. I turned on my computer because I figured that it had something to do with skype, and there he was talking to us in real time, and I could see him in their friends rented apartment.
I remember back 50 years ago when it cost $2 per minute to make a long distance phone call, and now you can speak and view friends for nothing but the cost of the internet.
i look forward to the day when we will be ablr to e-mail ourselves to where ever we want, evading that horrible company Air Canada!
