It can be interpreted in a couple of ways. African-Americans have often been derisively called apes and monkeys. That would be very offensive.

There was a recent situation where a monkey had to be shot after it went berserk. So one could presume they are suggesting the stimulus bill was written by a berserk monkey.

The joke was in poor taste IMO.

and GW was compared to a monkey on several occasions... sheesh.. not poor taste at all... poor interpretation...I get so sick of this crap where a politician cant be compared to such and such or so and so just because of their background or lifestyle..

We're shielded from much of the racial issues that go on south of the border, so to us, it's not really that big of a deal. It doesn't take much to set off that powder keg down there...

so just to understand things.. as long as you are white and not jewish and not gay.... then you can be compared to anyone and anything past present or future.. but the moment you are not white, you are jewish or you are gay... there are lines that cant be crossed? frick that... get a backbone

where is the poor taste? people are inferring their own racism on the cartoon and the NET is up in arms over this...again.. GW was compared to a chimp/baboon/monkey/whatever primate on so may occassions it began to be not even close to funny any more.

What was the cartoonist thinking? Doesn't he realize that comparing a black person to a monkey will automatically create controversy?

I'll bet he was looking for that 15 minutes of infamy.
